Antonio La Grotta of Ceramiche D’Arte is among the most recognized ceramic artists from Grottaglie in Taranto, Puglia.
Puglia (Apulia) is one of the most beautiful and less explored landscapes in southern Italy.
Azure water of the Adriatic and Ionian Seas kisses the shoreline speckled with rocky coves and sandy beaches from north to south.
The region is renowned for it’s olive groves, historic sites, cuisine, rich clay deposits and skilled artisans – especially, fine ceramists.
La Grotto’s Creative Inspiration
La Grotto comes from a family of ceramic artisans whose passion for the craft dates back to the 19th century.
He began his apprenticeship at age 12 and went on to complete his studies at the Instituto d’Arte Grottaglie.
His finely handcrafted ceramics are inspired by the Apulia tradition and its environs.
An expert in etching technique, he also specializes in restoring antique pottery artifacts, frescoes and architectural monuments. His work has won him many national and international accolades.
